High and Low Seasons

One of the best ways to reduce travel expenses is to avoid taking vacations during busy vacation periods. The cost of transportation and accommodation escalates dramatically during the summer holiday period, at Christmas time and during the school spring-break.

In addition to benefiting from lower travel costs, queues for attractions can be avoided by traveling during the "low" or "mid" season.

Autumn Foliage

Hotels and motels at beach resorts and other vacation destinations frequently offer deep discounts during the off-season.  This occurs when there is a large quantity of accommodation available but low demand.  Unfortunately, off-season bargains often don't apply in large cities, which cater to both business and holiday travelers.

If possible, plan to travel in May, June, September or October when the weather is comfortable and many discounts are available.
