One of the best ways to reduce travel expenses is to avoid taking vacations
during busy vacation periods. The cost of transportation and accommodation escalates
dramatically during the summer holiday period, at Christmas time and during the
school spring-break.
In addition to benefiting from lower travel costs, queues for attractions
can be avoided by traveling during the "low" or "mid" season.
Hotels and motels at beach resorts and other vacation destinations
frequently offer deep discounts during the off-season, because of the large quantity of accommodation that is
available. Unfortunately, the same is not true in the large cities,
which cater to both business and holiday travelers.
If possible, plan to travel in May, June, September or October when
the weather is comfortable and discounts are in affect.
