The city of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain is one of Europe's largest cities and an
extremely popular tourist destination. Although hotels in the city
centre are generally expensive, inexpensive accommodation is available
outside the city centre.
Barcelona also has an excellent metro system, so getting around the city
using public transportation is easy. Consider purchasing a multi-day
transit pass to transfer between your hotel or guest house to the city
attractions.
Inexpensive flights with the discount airlines are available to the
Girona airport from northern Europe. Girona is situated north of Barcelona
and is itself a lovely place to visit. The accommodation in Girona is
also relatively inexpensive.
